About Me
My admiration for insects began in third grade when I discovered a patch of pill bugs during recess. I spent every day creating little homes for them, letting them crawl on me, and wishing I could take them all home.
As I grew older, I started collecting dead insects from my mom’s yard, collecting them in boxes in my room. I spent my days collecting every bug in Animal Crossing, which to this day is how I know about most of the species I do!
Entering into adulthood, this passion faded for a while, it wasn’t until I was in a transitional period of my life that I was inspired to pin and frame my first butterfly. After visiting local oddity shops with my sweet partner, I was captivated by the beauty of the displays. The first time I pinned a butterfly, I was so in awe as I handled its little body, amazed that nature could create something so beautiful. I continued to pin more butterflies and moths, putting my little bows on them since day one.
My first time pinning a tarantula was very pivotal for me. Like a lot of others, I grew up taught to be terrified of spiders. I was misinformed and incredibly scared of them. The moment I held a tarantula in my hands for the first time I was overcome with emotion at the little creature I was looking at. Spiders have grown to become some of the most special things in my life. Having them as pets of my own and getting to take in their behaviors and individual personalities has been quite life changing for me. The way that they can shed their exoskeleton to become brand new and grow stronger, they can adapt to new spaces and build a home even more beautiful than their last, they are quite amazing. Having found this passion during a time in my life where I also was growing, starting brand new, and creating a home for myself, I really resonated with them and they quickly became my main interest.
Through my craft, I hope to bridge together my love for cute things and my love for dark things. I hope to bring beauty to death as I honor these little creatures bodies. I hope to cure at least a few people’s fear of insects and arachnids. I hope to have someone look at a piece of my art because they think it is cute and it inspires them to learn more about these incredible species.
I am so thankful to have found a community to share these creatures and my art with. There is truly so much love poured into every single piece.
thank you endlessly. <3
